Teacher's note:
Task 1) The Herodotus and Source worksheet incorporates three different source analysis tasks. The first will be completed as a class and aims to aid all students as it will model how to analyse sources and practice such analysis. It will particularly aid the lower ability students as this scaffold will allow them the opportunity to practice critically thinking about sources and inquiry-based learning.
Task 2) As the students move onto the next activity, they will be required to complete a different type of source analysis. This analysis is a visual, not a text. This aids visual learners, lower ability learners and mixed ability learners as visuals are a great tool for learning, according to Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences.
Task 3) Finally, the last activity is aimed for the higher ability students. This activity does not have any scaffolding questions, and is also a task to be completed individually. This will challenge the students to think critically about sources, analysing them on their own. This will further challenge their inquiry based learning, and allow them to practice source analysis in preparation for the HSC.
Please give your worksheets to your teacher via email, or hardcopy - regardless of if you have completed the analysis or not.
